IFSC lookup
Once RBI's list is loaded, an IFSC here shows the bank, branch and address the Reserve Bank of India's list of NEFT-enabled branches gives for it, and the branch's MICR code where the list includes one.
Search data has not been loaded yet. Searches start working once the official files are imported. Until then, entering a code still shows what each part of it means. What is pending.

What an IFSC result tells you
RBI describes the IFSC as an alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a bank branch taking part in NEFT (Source: RBI). A result here confirms that a code appears in the copy of RBI's list we imported, and shows the branch it belongs to. It does not tell you anything about an account at that branch.
When an IFSC is not found
- Look at the fifth character. It is always the digit 0, so a letter O there is a typing slip (Source: RBI).
- Check the source you copied it from. RBI says member banks have been advised to print the branch IFSC on the cheques they issue (Source: RBI).
- Branches open, merge and close. If a code is missing from our copy, ask the bank, or use the IFSC/MICR search on RBI's own website (Source: RBI).
